The Elba Central School Field and Stream club will be placing a paper recycling receptacle in the visitors' parking lot around mid April. Elba residents are encouraged to drop off their paper recyclables at this bin. This is a fund raiser for the club and the money earned will help fund their conservation activities. The town pays a private company to haul away recyclables from the transfer station, so a reduction in the amount of recyclables dropped off there will reduce this expense. The following items will be accepted at the school bin: junk mail, notebooks, folders, catalogs, newspapers, magazines. The following will not be accepted: cardboard, phonebooks or any bound books.
Fees: Permits may be purchased for $25 from the Town Clerk's Office M-F 9-12, 1-4 or at the transfer station during hours of operation. Each permit allows the user to dispose of 10 bags of garbage at the transfer station.
Certification that the freon has been removed must be provided when disposing of refrigerators. Look in the Yellow Pages under "REFRIGERATION" for a licensed contractor to remove the freon.
Recycling: there is no charge for disposal of recyclables. Please adhere to the following guidelines:
